Terry McGinnis

After the death of his father, former juvenile deliquent Terry McGinnis crosses paths with Bruce Wayne. He asks Bruce for help in solving his father's murder, but Bruce refuses. So he steals an enhanced Batsuit and sets out to do it himself. Bruce eventually relents and agrees to help. Despite their contentious start, Bruce decides to train Terry as Gotham's new Dark Knight.

Terry has a lean atheletic build. What he lacks in muscle mass, the suit more than compensates for him. Messy black hair and cool blue eyes. He's usually covered in bruises in various stages of healing and has earned a few scars.

I was never a Robin; The obligatory Robin AU

After Warren's murder, Bruce busts Terry, Charlie "Big Time" Bigelow and a few others robbing a convenience store in Park Row. Charlie's convicted and so is Terry, but he's released after serving a short time, after Bruce 'puts in a good word'. Bruce decides to train Terry as a Robin and help him solve his father's murder.

Alternately: Terry feels like Bruce isn't doing enough and ends up swiping a prototype Batman suit to do it himself. He's caught by one of the other Bats (or Bruce himself)

Disappearing Act; Displacement AU

After a particularly fierce battle with one of his rogues (Thinking Spellbinder or Kobra) Terry's displaced in a different time period while Bruce is still active. So he's got to learn how to navigate this world while they get him back. Clashes with Bruce can include Bruce telling Terry he can't be Batman anymore.

Joke's on you; Joker escapes AU

What it says on the tin. At the end of Return of the Joker, Joker escapes and Terry fails to locate him. Can be multiverse shenanigans. Maybe Bruce doesn't trust Terry to find him on his own or doesn't want him facing off against him by himself, so he quietly swaps places with a younger version of himself. Or Terry's the one who reaches out for help cause he's not about to tell Bruce he messed up.
